In the early 1980's at the SuperBowl Bowling Alley in Canton, MI, there was this weird Pac-Man game that was unlike any others I had played.
The cabinet itself looked no different than an authentic Pac-Man cabinet.
The gameplay, however, featured a new maze layout with some twists and turns you had to really master in order to get around them, as well as extra exit tunnels.
Also, every few levels, you would face an "invisible maze", which also had it's own layout.
It wasn't until many years later after doing a little research I learned this was called the "NewPuc2" hack created by KAMIYA.
This oddity stuck with me over the years because I never saw another one like it before except in that one bowling alley. Everywhere else I saw a Pac-Man machine, it always seemed to be authentic.
Let me know if you ever came across one of these machines in the wild. I'd love to hear your story!
