What if... Rick and Morty had an NES game?

With the power of Romhacking, anything is now possible!

What if I told you there was an NES game based on the popular Adult Swim animated show, Rick and Morty? You probably wouldn't believe me. Games for the NES stopped commercially being produced in the 1990's, and Rick and Morty didn't debut until late 2013.

That is where the world of Romhacking and Homebrew comes into play!

Dedicated fans with computer and programming knowledge can take pretty much any concept or current pop culture icon, and place it into a game of the past.

It takes a little bit of graphic "know how" to do this.

That is exactly what Romhackers "Pacnsacdave" and "Crying Onion" did. They took an existing NES game, Alien Syndrome by Tengen, and turned it into RICK AND MORTY.

The setting is perfect. In Alien Syndrome, you select one of two characters to play as. You walk around an alien establishment or on the surface of an alien planet, you shoot aliens, you rescue your friends, and you fight an alien boss at the end of each stage.

The premise of Alien Syndrome fits Rick and Morty exactly! Change the character graphics, change the bosses to resemble enemy characters from the hit show, and you have yourself a BRAND NEW GAME!

Personally, I didn't really enjoy playing Alien Syndrome back-in-the-day. But insert characters from a show I watch, and I'm immediately hooked, and I suddenly want to play through the entire game!

Romhacking is a great way to breathe new life into these classic games we've forgotten about and had no desire of playing before.
